I began the year training a while back now. Its hard to imagine that I'm already about a month into it. I have been on a training plan from Speed cycling, who is giving UW riders a huge discount. So far I have been enjoying the training, although I wish it was outside more. This week is a recovery week, and boy did I need it. The previous three weeks were pretty ruff, which ended with a 4-5 hour ride out to New Glarus. I was really dragging at the end of that ride, and felt like I was right on the edge of over training. Like I said, good thing this week is for resting.
I have been recovering in other ways too. I spent the extra time I was off the bike this week to catch up on reading for school, and get a head in homework. Both good things. I also got a lot done with the Formula SAE car. Below is a picture of what im doing. Thats not our car, but the idea is the same. Its pretty sweet.
Today was the first day that I'm feeling better, feeling stronger. The riding this week has been mostly drills, and riding to work. The recovery has been doing my body right. Good thing, because the first collegiate race is coming up in 2 week and a few days, I sure am excited. Beyond that, spring break is right around the corner. I just got my supplies in from QBP, a few boxes of bars and gels, tires and tubes, plus some other parts. I took my road bike completely apart last weekend, cleaned it down to the carbon. Just need to re-cable it and it will ride and look like new.
The training is supposed to pick up again, and the weather will be much nicer soon. I'm looking forward to spring, all the riding and to see some of my projects with the car take shape. I am also a bit nervous and scared of all the work, just hope I can handle it all.
